Fancy Embossed Card

I have quite a few lovely embossing panels to use with my Bigshot.
The problem I have is using them.  I seem to have a mental block and only use them to decorate layers under toppers.
Need to think out of the box more with these and always on the look out for ideas.

I tried a layering idea on this card.  Using one of my embossing panels on cream card, I used that as a kind of backing paper

I then used a subtle coloured paper and got to use one of the Spellbinder Border cutting dies (something else Im not very creative with).I then used an embossed strip of ribbon on the top edge of this section
The Flower topper was a freebie from a craft mag.

A little different for me, like the affect of the embossing.

I have entered this card into the the following challenges -

Joanna Sheen Layering Challenge
Die Cutting Divas Tic Tac Toe Challenge  - My choice was Flowers,Embossing, Ribbon

Shopping Lady Card

Im doing well folks, Im slowly making a dent in my stash :D

This design was a gift, its alovely layered design of a lady shopping, a great one for winter birthdays.

I also got to use my Marianne Butterfly cutting die and Floral cuttie die.  The floral one is especially pretty, do like the hole affect layer on that.
I am having fun using the lovely patterned papers I have to make embellishments.  Ive so many, some only small pieces, but they are coming into their own now.

Vintage Couple with Flowers Card

It doesnt take me long to come back to one of my favourite themes - Vintage

This topper is from a sheet, sent to me as a gift. I love the suble colours in the topper and used subtle pink pattern paper to make the flowers to compliment the ladies dress

I used Marianne flower die to make the flowers, that lovely little green swirl comes with the die, just nice finishing touch.

Fancy Oriental Ladies Card

I went through a stage a few years ago, were I was using alot of oriental papers and themes.
I still have lots in my stash, so really need to get them used.

This 3D design sheet of these detailed ladies was a gift. I love all the detail in the dresses.

I made the flower embellishment from cutting dies that I got in swap - great way to get chance to try other dies.

I have entered this in the ABC Challenge - H for Happy Birthday

Metalic Floral Card

I made this card with a metalic 3D floral sheet.

I bought a set of these sometime ago, and again, it's something I've left lurking in my craft draws.

Not as nice an affect as Dufex, however, it does have a different look, which is nice for a change.

I do like the spellbinder layering dies, but they are far too expensive for me. So I looked for an alternative, and came across the X Cut range of dies. They have various shaped layer dies, of a good size.  They also cut really nicely, and I have now got a few of them.
I find I use my  X Cut dies quite a lot now, and used the oval set for the layering here.
I also want to try and use my embossing panels more, Ive a few lovely patterns. So far though Ive not been very creative with them, just using them as I have here, to add pattern to the cut out layers. It does give a lovely affect though.

Kanban Art Deco Lady Card

This card was made from a Kanban sheet of Art Deco ladies, I have had lurking in my craft room for ages - maybe even years - LOL

Lovely detail in the artwork, so I just made an embellishment with ribbon, butterfly punch and Marianne swirl to compliment the topper

Stuck as close to blue tones as I could, even the ribbon is pale blue.  Doesnt show well on the photo, but the ribbon is three folded - I do like that affect and find I can make better bows with organza ribbon

Die Cutting Focus for Crafting

Over one year ago I got a 2nd hand cuttlebug to see if I would get into the embossing and die cutting area of crafting

Christmas 2012, I got a new Bigshot Cutting Machine.  I soon realised just how much fun and how creative I can be using a cutting machine.

I now save up every year to buy what dies I can and a few embossing folders.  Though it is so hard to choose, with so many lovely designs on offer

This January, I got these dies.  I really liked the idea of using fancy frames, but wasnt sure how I would combine them with digital art. However, I've an idea in my head and after a year of playing, I think Im ready for more fancy dies.

So this year folks, look out for more fancy frames, more use of fancy swirls and of course all those nice flower dies and butterflie dies that I got last year (but have yet to really use to extent)

I'm hoping that 2013 is going to be a creative year for me.

If you wish to join in creative chat and share ideas I have a page on Face Book - Croft Crafts Cards and Knitting

Garden Can Card

I am going through my stash and finding some of those lovely sheets that have lurked in the nook and crannies of my craft room

This is the year of using stash :D

The 3D sheet I used on this card was very fiddly to cut out.
I think that is why it had been left for so long.  Shame really as the effort was worth it in the end

And Im making an effort to use up Peel Off corners and borders Ive collected too, got loads of them.

Ive entered this into the My Time to Craft Decoupage Challenge

Children Dufex Card

This card was made from one of the dufex 3D sheets I still have in my stash.
I am slowly using them up, as I've decided I can't just look at them anymore :D

I used a X Cut frame die for the layering, and added a couple of embellishments, making a fancy bow and 3D butterfly.

Makes for a lovely card, especially when it catches the light, and it's a theme that I dont do very much

Lady and Dogs Topper - Free Art

I love this elegant artwork and of course a great topper to make a card for dog lovers.  I used one of my subtle paper designs for the frame

Hope other crafters enjoy using this topper to make a card, click on the image and them save to your PC

Sunflower Fairy Card

I used one of the fairy toppers from a Debbi Moore craft mag to make this card
The wings aren't noticable on this topper though, but I do like the lovely flower headband and broach on the dress

I used a Marianne floral cutting die, again using up some lovely patterned paper I can left.  I am making an effort to use the lovely papers I have in my stash. Those papers that we cue over and put away for months because they just too nice to use
I feel this is when my cutting dies are coming into their own, being able to make nice, colourfull embellishments.

And I even remembered to use a gem for the flower, I can get to use my lovely crystal gems.
