Fatbooks - Square and Round

I sometimes make Fatbook Pages to send to crafters. They are a great way to use up small embellishments/toppers, in your stash

With being approx 4x4 in size, they don't need too many items to make an interesting display.

I tend to make different shapes.  This is a Round Fatbook.  I have a Glitter Girls board that has the right size and small circles, which came in handy when I wanted backing paper the right size

I used cutting dies for the flowers and leaves. And the rest are small embellishments that Ive had in my stash for a while :D

This is a Square Fatbook.  Again, I used a Glitter Girls board as it was the right size and also had other squares to be able to sort out the backing paper size
This one I used a small dufex topper, and gems and other embellishments to make for an interesting display.
And of course that lovely swirl cutting die :D

Flowers with Bird House Card

I made this card with a topper from my stash, the flower topper.  Quite delicate looking flowers too.

The embellishment was a combination of of various cutting dies, and purchased flower embellishments.
I tried using the bird and bird house dies that I got in a small set. These elements I dont use very much, so its nice to be able to try them

Elephant Friends Card

I used a design from a Joanna Sheen craft CD to make this card. Been a while since I got to use one her craft CD's

I love the artwork for this card, its so sweet too.  Those elephants holding trunks like that :D

Used a couple of cutting dies for the embellishment, even had a go at cutting out glitter card.
Even though I love using glitter card, Ive always had problems trying to cut out with it.

Key to the Lighthouse

Lighthouses, they can be quite interesting! Probably because they are by the sea

I made this card with a topper from a Debbi Moore craft mag. A great one for a guy card I felt.

Decided to layer up with vintage paper and embossed card - the embossing folder pattern is brick - which I thought was a nice pattern to go with a brick Lighthouse.

The Key - was a die cut shape I got in a swap - a little bigger than the one I have myself, but quite nice.

Shades of Pink Card

I decided on subtle shades of pink for this card, with touches of silver.

This was a card I also made for a recent Craft Fair, and also were I made up a flower topper from individual flowers from my stash.  Its been quite nice to use some of these lovely flowers that Ive just cooed over for ages.

Various cutting dies were used , which did made this card a little busy, however, not overwhelming.  This card also sold :D

I am so liking this larger butterfly die, its such a nice shape and a great way to use up patterned and glitter card.  I used glittered card this time.

I also used 6x6 sized card.  Been using square cards more often, and quite enjoying working with that shape of space. Though I wouldnt go any smaller than 5x5, as I feel I cant be creative enough with embellishments if the card is too small

Say it with Red Card

I recently did a small Craft Fair at my village library.  With being busy with Volunteer work, I didnt take that many cards, and it was one of those days when I wish i'd taken more. I sold everything :D

This was one of the cards I made for that Fair.  I'd gone through my stash of paper flowers and made up some little possies to go on cards.  Something Ive not done in a while, so it was fun

I used a Frame cutting die, and a Key cutting die on this card. Using a recent embossing folder- which Im really liking - and also made the bow.

I really like the colours on this card. I tend to use Red mostly for festive card, so it was something a little different to use on an every day card.

Simple, and elegant and didnt stay on my table long :D

Lots of Collies

I love a pack of Puppies, and these guys really caught my heartstrings :D

This is a recent card I made for a member of the Group I Volunteer with.
I noticed he liked dogs, and went through my stash of digital images - this sweet design caught my eye.

I have a large collection of animal artwork, and love these collie pups, they are so sweet.

Just kept the card simple, done in blue tones, with a touch of silver.  The embellishment is part of a Lamp Cutting die, which I rarely get to use.

Using some of my dies that have more than one elements is tricky and always looking for ideas on how to be creative with them

Rock Biker

I made some cards recently, as a Thank You, for the Members of the Group I do Volunteer work with.

One of them is an Elvis fan, and I remembered I had a design in my stash that reminded me of Elvis.

To add a little bit of the music theme, I used a recent XCut Cutting Die - Music themed - to add embellishments.
I cut them out in card, but used my heat embossing powders to add the glittered/metal affect.

Great design for a Guy, which also brought in Rock and Roll and Bikes :D

Cable Hat and Skirt

Chunky Peach Hat
After a few knitted projects, I was left with odd balls of yarn.  So what to do with them...

I had one 100gms of Teddy Chunky yarn in peach, and decided to design my own hat. The cable pattern I included was from another pattern, and the rest is in rib.
Not too tight a fit, which is nice, but nice and snug.

Stripe Cable Skirt.
I also had Lilac and Purple Aran weight yarn left.  So decided to make my first stripe outfit.  I decided to make a skirt, not using a pattern, just made up the pattern
Also the first time I have tried to work out measurements and stitches required from scratch
I included a nice cable pattern on the front of the skirt, to give a bit of interest and also because I love cable.

The back I kept as plain stocking stitch, matching up the stripe in the pattern same as the front

And added garter stitch at the bottom of the skirt.

Lovely warm feel to this skirt, with the yarn being Aran and it will match a Lilac cardigan and Lilac and Purple waistcoat I knit last year :D

Here there be Dragons

I make birthday cards for all the members of the Volunteer Group (Stepping Stones 2To).  And one of the members likes fantasy themed stories and artwork - as interest I also share.

So it was great to be able to get to use this great Dragon design from one of Debbi Moore's craft CDs.  Love the detail in this design, and it looks dangerous with those great sharpe claws on both feet and wings :D  Brilliant card for a lad that loves fantasy.

I used various cutting dies for the embellishment and the key I cut out in card, but used my glitter heat embossing powders to give it that metal affect.

Not too fussy, though I couldn't resist putting a bit of glitter on the dragons horns :D

Old Morris Car

Recently I did a small craft fair at my local library so I got the opportunity to make some male themed cards.
I always struggle with male themed cards, as I never feel I can make them as interesting as my female themed cards.
Its coz I cant put a flower on it  :D

This design has been in my stash for ages, so finally got to use it. I used varoius cutting dies for the embellishments, the gears have been a really good buy as they also got well with the cog patterned embossing folder I used on this card

And the recent Key shaped cutting die, a great one for male and female cards, and I can see me using this one alot too :D

Turned out to be a nice card, lots going on without being too fussy - it was sold to a happy customer on the day of the craft fair.

Say it With Purple

Purple is one of my favourite colours, and I often end up making a card with purple shades - despite trying to resist :D

I was looking at my lovely collection of paper and silk flowers and decided to use some up. They are items I've had in my stash, kept for those special cards, and just never used.

Also, most of my cards go through the post, so the postage on these kinds of cards works out more expensive... However, I don't like to see something not been used, when Ive bought it.

So here's a card using a lovely lilac set of silk roses.  I kept to lilac, purple and a touch of white for the rest of the card.

Using various cutting dies for the elements, bit of ribbon, even an embossing folder (love the dots pattern) and made a bow.
Simple and elegant :D

Tea in the Garden

During a lovely spell of hot, sunny weather, I felt like making a summery card.

I came up woth this one.  The 3D design had been in my stash for some time, and I've finally got around to using it.
Do like the detail in the artwork, this photo doesnt do it justice, it really is lovely and with such nice colour tones.

I used a lovely rose backing paper with this - a paper pack I got from The Works - and do like how it compliments the colours in the design

Of course no card of mine would be complete without using my cutting dies. Ive used a flourish, a flower (which is a daisy were you cut all the individual petals) and butterfly for the embellishment on this card.  I used up glitter pink card for the flower and butterfly

I knew when I decided to get a cutting/embossing machine that I had to make good use of it. And I think I can safely say, my Bigshot is earnings its keep :D  I include embellishments on all my cards now, that Ive made using cutting dies :D
