F1 Racing Car

I had to make another male themed card, so decided to use a Debbi Moore topper from one of her mags.

I had a few of this design, and it has come in handy, this was the last one I had in my stash.

The embellishment is a cutting die, that is fiddly to use, but well worth the effort.  Ive found if I use mirror board for the base on this watch, it works much better, when the watch face is put on.

The backing paper and wheel bits, all came from the craft mag, one of the few times I've used all the elements from the same mag on one card.

Fancy Stamped Christmas Tree

Another go at rubber stamping for me.
Its a lovely design, do like the detail in the stamp, though not sure I do it that much justice.

I used a little bit of colour, which is actually sparkly, but doesnt show so in this photo

The embellishment, was using the larger cutting die from the  -
Marianne D Creatables Holly Branches.

Kept the card simple, as Ive never been comfortable with rubber stamping. But wanted to use the odd festive stamp I have in my collection.

Lilly Boot Card

I have an old copy of Greeting Cards Factory that I hardly ever use, though there are some lovely images I could try.

This boot is one of those images, and I made it into a 3D sheet. I love the flowers on this boot, so colourful.

I used my dots embossing folder, even though its a simple pattern , I always feel it looks elegant

And of course various cutting dies for the embellishment :D I used some pattern vellum on the flowers this time.

If anyone finds the way I use cutting dies helpful, please do leave a comment, but lovely to read folks thoughts

Winter Flower Stamped Card

Something I don't do very often and that is rubber stamping. I never feel Im that good at it to be honest.

Shame really as Ive a few heat embossed powders that I dont use as much as I'd like.

This rubber stamp I won in a prize from Docraft.  Its a good size too, for making a decent topper.

I used glitter pens Ive had for ages to add a touch of colour and a lovely red embossing powder on the image

The cutting dies are kinda cute, they are ones I got last year and have only used them on festive cards so far

Rustic Roses Card

I love flowers, and do like to get chance of making cards with one of the many lovely floral designs I have on CD.

I made this topper myself. I use Paint Shop Pro to do any of my digital work. Not an expert by any means, but an enthusiastic amateur :D

I made the embellishment with various dies and Ive had the backing paper for ages.  Went with a touch of black on this card, really made that swirl pop on the card, something Im a little shy of, using Black, but perhaps I should do more with this colour

I hope combining the cutting dies I have is giving other crafters ideas too :D

Christmas Rabbits Card

Im on a roll now folks, getting into this years Christmas cards

Lovely design Ive got one on of the many craft CD's in my collection. Ive so many I cant remember what Ive got (lol)
Lovely detail and so cute too

I used a wording cutting die on this card, almost like making your own peel off stickers with the ones Ive got are a little awkward sticking them on cards though!

This time I used coloured sticky tape.  But in the past Ive had to try and stick them down with glue

The cutting die was a free one I got with a craft magerzine.  I've no idea of the make, but I do love the pattern

Soft Top Car Card

How many of these kinds of cars have you seen on the roads during the hot weather :D

I only ever sat in one once - when I worked for a garage years ago - I was frozen (lol)

I made this card though for the guys that love their sports cards.  Car was an image in my digital stash, that I made into a 3D sheet.

I then used  various dies to decorate and a gears patterned embossing folder to add a bit of texture :D

Sleeping Friends

When I saw this design, I couldnt help but smile.  I use to have two dogs and a cat, and they would all cuddle up on my bed together.  Ended up getting a King Size bed so we could all fit (lol)

Such lovely, clear detail in this artwork too, something I like.  I like to see realistic artwork.

The colours are subtle too, really nice on the eyes.  The embellishment kinda stands out from the design, as it I did it in gold/peach tones.  To match the curtains on the topper :D

Also decided to do three layers on the sizzix flower die this time, just to see how that works.

Ornate Key Card

It Started with A Key :D
This is one of those cards, were I wasnt sure how I could make it work.
I started with the Key, an embellishment sent to me by a friend.

I loved the shape of the key, and decided to make that the focus of the card.

the backing paper, is a delicate shade of lilac and floral.  Even managed to use an embossing panel on the frame layer.

I used varius dies, in lilac and silver, to compliment the paper.  Felt it worked quite well and the key isnt overwhelmed.  Ended up selling this card :D

White Lace Lady

I decided to have another play making a topper from images and artwork I have in my digital stash

This card was made with one of those toppers, and then made into a 3D sheet by myself.

I really like how the colours work with this topper, the lady design is so elegant.  And I went for subtle pinks and white for the rest of the topper, using masks, swirls and patterns.

The rest of the card I kept quite simple. The butterfly card I used, is gold gilded and I made the bow myself.

Really like how this card turned out and it was enjoyable making the topper too.

Vintage Festive Girl Card

At last, Ive started this years christmas cards and now able to post some up on my blog.

This was a free vintage topper I found and I made it into a simple card.

Nothing to fancy, just trying to ease myself into the festive mood - which isnt easy when its so warm :D

So nice to be able to use my festive cutting dies again too. I have quite a few now, but Im not sure you can ever have enough :D

I have seen this bell die used by other by sticking onto a backing piece to reflect through the cut out section, ever tried this method yet.

8 August 2014

There are two themes that I love when doing card making. And despite making cards for a few years, they are still ones I love to use.  One is elegant ladies and the other is floral.

I like lots of flowers, but Roses are my favourite.  I made the flower topper myself from individual paper flowers I have, combining varius shades of pink with white.
I made the bow from ribbon I have in my stash - using a Bow Maker.

And the rest of the embellishments were made with various dies - the best thing I ever bought for crafting was the Big Shot Machine :D

I love the backing paper, its one of my favourites from a paper pad I got from The Works.

You cant really tell in the photo, I used pink glitter card for frame and butterfly, so its sparkles lovely in the light.

Angle Butterfly

One of the things I love to do, is make my own toppers.  I have a large collection of artwork purchased from various sources.
And at times I like to do topper collages to make cards with.
This card was made with one of those toppers.

The embellishment I kept simple, as I didnt want to overwhelm the topper
So just used a Marianne D Creatables Key  die, cut out in blue glitter card.

The backing paper is lovely, from a set I got sometime ago, and those delicate blue flowers work so well with the colours in the topper

Lilac Regency Lady

I have a few toppers from Debbi Moore craft mags, that are a little larger than I would normally use.

I dont often made A5 cards, so it was nice to get chance to use one of these bigger toppers

This recency lady design, is ever so delicate and elegant. Love the detail in her dress.

With a bigger card of course I got chance to use more embellishments.  And I mixed ones made with cutting die shapes, with ones I had in my stash.

One downside to some of these larger toppers too, is that I dont have large enough shapes on boards etc to do matting and layering.  So went with a subtle backing paper for this card

Red Rose Fantasy Lady

This topper was from a Debbi Moore craft CD, one I've used a few times of late.

The artwork is so elegant, and I love the roses detail in her hair of course with it being roses, I had to go for rose backing paper. I got a pad of various rose paper designs from The Works. Its lovely.

The embellishment is simple, using a couple of dies from different sets. Really like mixing these dies up.  The leaves I embossed with green embossing powder, which made for a nice affect.
