Winter House

Snow in Winter..... Will there be any this year.

I dont mind snow in winter, as long as I don't have to travel in it :D  It always looks so clean, crisp and lovely.  But I think there should always be snow at Christmas...

This Debbi Moore design caught my eye, as I loved the snowy House. Just the kind of scene you want for christmas.  I especially like the lovely frame around it too.

I like to mix up the shapes I used from cutting dies when making embellishments.  And felt the sprigs from the Signature Dies - Pine Cones set went really well with the Marianne D Christmas Creatables Poinsettia.

I really like this card, its festive, yet artistic.

Purple Rose Gift Box

Fancy Purple Rose Gift Box

I had fun recently making gift boxes for an upcoming Craft Event, so decided to do a Floral Themed box

I wanted to make a larger box and didn't have a large enough rose cutting die. So I made my own template - really comes in handy being able to use a graphics program at times.

I cut the rose out in thick plain, purple paper. Then I painted half the petals with purple cosmic paint. The photo doesn't show the full affect, but it really catches the light :D

As the rose is the main element for this box, I decided to use smaller embellishments for the sides.

So neat little flowers, a sprig and butterfly, a box that can be used for all kinds of occassions.

Patterned Floral Bird

Inner swirls and doodles!
I got this lovely bird topper, with its own frame, from a craft mag, its a Hunkydory design.

Went for a quite a bold look with this, in pinks, cold and white tones. The backing paper, is actually a very dark pink, and helped the topper stand out.

I had fun making this embellishment, and it was nice to get back to using my cutting dies.

I find it interesting finding papers and textured card, even glittered or in this case hologhraphic too, to try and create interesting embellishments, that compliment the artwork in the toppers I use. And also make an interesting display in themselves.

When I make a card now, I have feel Im looking for interest.  For the person that gets the card to be able to look and see interesting elements, regardless how many times they look at the card :D

Gold My Fair Lady

Love that Hat!
The topper on this card, is a Debbi Moore design. One I've been wanting to use for a while.
I kept this card pretty simple, again, not using many more embellishments, and focussing on the design more.

And dont you just love that hat :D I bet hats like were heavy to wear and how did they keep them in place on windy days (lol)

I did make a small embellishment with the Marianne D Creatables Key cutting die, this is quickly becoming a favourite.  And made a bow, Ive been a bit lax using ribbon and making bows for my cards of late.

A simple, but elegant card :D

Red Floral Card

Stunning Floral Design!
I got a lovely Floral Craft CD, this year by Debbi Moore.  And I love the designs on it. This is a card I made with one of the designs from that CD

I know, I didnt use much in the way of my cutting dies, just one for the layering. I kept it simple, just focused on the artwork and didn't add any other element.  Something I dont do very often now.  So for me, this card looks so much simpler than is normal for me these days.

A little bit fiddly to cut out mind, this design, as those flowers are quite detailed.  However, worth the effort, as the 3D works so well, and makes the flowers reach out from the design.

The butterflies are really cute too.  And of course, I added a bit of litter to the flowers and butterflies.

Bag and Flowers

You can't go wrong with Pink and Handbags!

This card was made with a free Hunkydory topper, love the detail in the topper.
And the lovely backing paper was also a freebie, though I can't remember which craft mag either were from.

I used a few cutting dies on this one, for the embellshments, in a slightly different way. I often try and combine the shapes into an embellishment.
But this time, I used the dies as seperate elements to compliment the topper

It was nice to use that bird and bird house too, just small dies, but ever so cute

It is often hard for me to find ways to use the small dies in my collection, on cards.  I have to try be more creative!

Silver Art Deco Lady

Elegance is timeless.

This topper was a Debbi Moore design, one of her larger toppers from her craft mags.
I still very much like the art deco artwork, and was pleased to finally get chance to use this topper

I added gems to the frame and used various cutting dies to make the embellishments.  Went for a bold look, with silver and black.
I like using black on cards, but always feel a little nervious to try it, as it is such a bold affect.

Of course the head piece just asked for glitter (lol).  I like to put glitter on cards, just often forget to do so.

Its nice to revisit older designs, quite often when getting newer artwork, you forget about the lovely stuff you've not used in a while

Pink Floral Key

What about a Key?
I made some cards this month, that werent festive, so thought I would get those up, having every one a break from christmas (lol)

I had to take the photo of this card on an angle because the mirror board was reflecting me in the photo, and we dont want that :D

I used a few cutting dies on this card, infact I went for making the whole card with cutting dies, and had fun. And just love trying to think out of the box when using that lovely Key Cutting Die

The rose backing paper, was from a rose paper pack I got from The Works, and it has really come in handy.

Staying with pink, white and silver colours, I combined swirls, flowers, frames and key to come up with this combination.

Really like this card, and I really should try and use that frame more, as it just got such nice detail.

Cat at Christmas

Looking that comfy!

Im a big animal lover, having grew up with dogs and cats.  I like dogs and cat equally and have had both sharing my home in the past.

I really liked the design that I have in my digital stash. That cat looks lovely, and happy to be in it's favourite spot :D

Even though its more of a winter theme, I thought it would work well as a christmas card.  I used snowflake patterned vellum.  And a lovely, larger cutting die for the embellishment.  Even got my Flower Soft out and added a bit of snow affect to the skates.

A cool feel with those lovely tones of pale blue, white and lilac

Festive Mitts

Toasty hands for Christmas.
Todays christmas card is one made with a Debbi Moore topper from one of her craft mags.
This mittens design, reminded me of frosty days and how I always have to wear thick gloves in winter :D

I liked that it wasn't a typical festive theme too, something a little different.

I got to use various dies to make the embellishments and a frame die cut out in green glitter - which adds a bit of sparkle - just what you need for festive cards
I do have fun when I can encorporate a few cutting dies on a card, also it makes me think more about how I can enchance the card

Christmas Gift Boxes

I have never made gift boxes before, to try and sell at craft events.  I dont do that many events to consider trying.
But this year, I have decided to have a go, as I see so many nice ones that folks make, and fancied trying some.

All the boxes are small and Ive made with templates

This one is about 3" deep.

This one is in the shape of small purse.

I put the dotted festive paper on the back, front and fold over piece, and I also added coloured glitter to the dots.

I used Marianne Bauble cutting dies and Ivy die, for the embellishments, and the flap goes under the tag to stay closed.

This box is 3" in size, and made using a templateThis is a small gift box, shaped as an open bag. I put patterned paper on the back - as is this photo. With a tag

And the front I did a little bit fancier, using Marianne Holly and Poinsettia cutting dies.

I tied the bag shut with ribbon in a cute little bow

This box is 2" square, again made with a template

I embossed the lid and added ribbon around the lid too.

I used Marianne Snowflake dies different sizes, and layered them up for the embellishments.

Velvet Deer

I have had this digital topper in my collection for ages and not got around to using it.
I love the detail and those great velvet antlers.

I remember seem a magnificant Stag in Scotland, up close, years ago, and always remember what a thrill it was :D

I made the embellishments by layering different types of snowflake and star cutting dies, and quite like the affect.

Red Lady and Holly

I made this festive card with a topper from a Debbi Moore Craft Mag

This one is more of a scene with the lady design, but I still like the detail.

I had a little play with my festive embossing panel and used it on a piece of red card, adding a bit of glitter to highlight the pattern

The cornes were made with the Cherry Lynn Holly Corner die, its a lovely one, that I sometimes forget I have.
Even though holly is green, I quite like having metalic looking holly, so used up scraps of mirror board for these corners.

I entered this card in the - Crafting from the Heart Challenge 36

Vibrant Peacock

I remember the first time I saw a peacock up close, on a visit to a stately home years ago, and still feel they are quite magnificant birds to look at with those wonderful feathers.

This card was made with one of the larger toppers, and papers from a Debbi Moore craft mag.  Love the rich blue tones, and the detail. Those feathers that just begged for a touch of glitter :D

It was a larger card this time, as the topper was quite big, I did wish it was a little smaller to be honest. But I managed to add some lovely flowers, cut out using some of the fancy handmade pattern papers in my stash.

Green Lady with Frosted Poinsettia

Ive got a few festive cards made now, so will be posting regular to showcase them. Hopefully they will give other crafters a bit of inspiration for their xmas cards

The topper on this card was one from a Debbi Moore craft mag, even though it was a festive one, I think you could easily use this lady design for any occasion.
And as always, I love the detail, and would love to dress some glam :D

The embellishment I made using -

Marianne D Christmas Creatables Poinsettia and Marianne D Creatables Holly Branches.  They are both lovely dies, and ones I have used regular since I got them.
I had a little play with my embossing powders and cut the poinsettia out in plain white card - then using a silver/white glitter embossing powder on the cut out pieces. Did like the affect though it took a while to make sure all the flower bits were covered.
Something I've seen demonstrated on C&C many a time, and they make it look so easy, when actually its very fiddly.

Great way to use the embossing powders I have though and will try doing this more often to give different finishes to my cut out embellshments.

Vintage Paper Model Plane

I am going to try a new Arts and Crafts group in my area.  The meeting I will be attending, they are working on WW1 theme.

I thought I would try something different, and decided to try and make a very simple, vintage plane model, out of card.
Im not that sure how I feel about the finished project. Ive never done a model in card before, so I did pick a very simple design.

I found a free template, cutout all the pieces. I painted the propeller bit with silver cosmic paints and used matchsticks for the wing struts.

The back fin, I coloured in red, white and blue, with glaze pens
And the wings I painted dark green, with cosmic paints.

The main body of the plane is in grey card.

These were the closest colours I could get to a WW1 plane.

Despite this being a simple template, it ended up being quite fiddly to make.
Especially sticking those matchsticks on, had to use a reasonable blob of silcone for each edge, to try and get it to stick.

Im sure if it's not handled much in the display, this should hold up OK.  Im not very good at painting either, but the uneven affect.

It was fun to make this, though Im not sure 3D modelling is something I'll ever be brilliant at (lol)

Pink Lillies

One of the recent Debbi Moore craft mags, came with a free Floral Craft CD. And I love it :D

This is one of the designs from that CD, such nice topper combinations and also made into Decoupage sheets - which I love too.

A bit of detail to cut out, but worth it to be honest as the flowers seem to pop out of the display.

Used various frame cutting dies for the layering, and used one of the

cArt Us Nesting Dies - Butterflies for the embellishment.

Even though I use alot of cutting dies now in my card making, Decoupage is still my favourite method to use. I just love the 3D affect.

You've just got have butterflies with flowers :D

Filigree Tree with Baubles

A combination of rubber stamping and die cutting for this card.

Ive often seen crafters using lovely bauble rubber stamps, and had this nice one in my stash for a while, without using it.  So I decided to give it a go.  I used a chinese red heat embossing powder when stamped, and just a touch of glitter red for colouring.

The tree is a die I got free with a craft mag, lovely design, though very fiddly to cut out.
And I used the Memory Box Holly Border die to make it look like the baubles are hanging, kind like that affect.

Not too fussy a card, but quite liked how it turned out.

Hoping crafters find these interesting and useful.

I created all the elements on the design Sheet.

Butterfly embellishments.

A theme, foreign, is a little different for me.

This topper and embellishments were in a Debbi Moore craft mag and I quite like the scene combination.

I make general cards for some of my friends, so it's an opportunity to use up fun toppers like this.

I kept the card simple, just added a bit of glitter and did a little bit of layering

Silver Tree

Ive had this Debbi Moore topper - from a craft mag - since last christmas, but hadn't got chance to use it last year.

I really like the detail in the tree, looks lovely and just added a touch of glitter to highlight the star.  Its a difficult die to cut out with the detail, so I tried a tip I found on - line and it worked.

I sprayed the back of the card with Fabric Softner and let it dry.  This helped soften the card enough for this cutting die to cut better. :D

I used my favourite cutting die

Flourish and Embossed Lady

I love how this card turned out :D

Its a topper from a Debbi Moore craft mag, and I so like the swirl details in the dress.

I had some patterned papers in my stash that blended well with the dress tone, so I used one of my cutting dies to made the flower (which I cant remember the brand name of) as well as a swirl, to finish off the embellishment

I went with the bold affect of black card, that I used one of my embossing panel on, and a touch of mica paints to highlight the pattern.

Bit more creative for me this card, with the embossing and painting.  Really like how the black makes the rest on this card stand out.

Christmas Pals

Yep, Im enjoying my festive cards now, really getting into the festive theme.

Probably helps that the weather has gone cooler :D

Ive had this design in my digital stash for ages, so made a frame for it, and printed it on Glossy Photo paper.
Its so sweet :D

I then just did panels for layering, using papers and card.

And the embellishment is a lovely bauble cutting die.  Ive yet to use this die on a base, to reflect through the pattern.  However, I do like the affect, of being able to see whats behind it - such as backing paper pattern :D
