Zentange Inspired Art Elephant

I have been trying my hand at a little bit of what I call ZIA.

After some research on the technique, there seems to be quite strict guidelines on what is considered Zentangle.
I can appreciate that there are some rules to this technique, however, as with all forms of creativity, these things can be adapted.
Hence, my attempts at ZIA :D

I had an outline of an elephants face and I used some of the lines already in the design to work my design

This is the coloured version, I know some prefer not to add colour to their ZIA, I personally love how it changes it

Here is the black and white design before adding colour.

I never start something like this with a fixed idea on how it will look, though I do use instructions on zentangle patterns as a guideline to what I will draw in the space.

I also work in pencil, for the whole design, and then go over the lines in Pen later
This is a personal preference as my hand control isn't as steady as I would like, something that hopefully will improve in time

Birds of a Feather

I went with a bird theme for this card.

The topper is from my stash and has lovely foiled detail, which is really eye catching

The embellishments were made with the Tattered Lace Owl Trio set and Marianne Bird with Ivy set.
The ivy worked really well with the owl

I have a small stash of part piece of card, colour and patterned which I use with my cutting dies, it allows me to use up as much of my card and paper as possible. Great way to get monies worth from my craft supplies.

Penguin Zentangle Inspired Art

This is one of my attempts at ZIA art. After some research on Zentangle, it would seem there are a few guidelines on how you should do this art form. Personally I like flexibility, so I now refer to anything I attempt, as zentangling :D

I found a basic outline of a penguin, and split the design up into section, like you would a square

Then I decorated it with Zentangle patterns, that I have that follow the Zentangle guidelines.

To finish off with applying colour, using metalic and pastel pencils. Again, this is personal choice, I really like the affects of adding colour to the patterns.

This is the design before I added colour

I find I like a reasonable amount of white spaces, when doing Zentangle patterns, so that I can apply colour later.

There are books that you can get now that have instructions of zentangle patterns, and I am getting one to practice the patterns.

City Fashion

I made this card with a fashion themed topper from Hunkydory

I had a lovely Paris themed backing paper, that works really nice with the topper, especially blends well colour wise

And I had a small piece of patterned card, that I used to cut out the butterfly, the partical rose on that embellishment works so nice with the topper.

Simple, but lovely card :D

Flapper Lady - Free Art

I made this lovely set of toppers with digital designs I have in my stash, made into PSP files and blended.
I love the vintage look and really enjoy making collage toppers

Click on the various images and save to PC for printing :D

Bold Flourishes

I had the lovely lilac floral topper in my craft stash, and it has a subtle rubber stamped look, that I quite like

I went for a backing paper, that also looks like various stamped designs, worked really well, in a similar shade

After that I went bold, the flourish is one of a Xcut set, and I love them, not as delicate has some others I have, but I really like the more bold affect

The flowers I made with a small cutting die, just finished off the cornders and work well with the flourishes

Lilac Art Deco Lady with Feathers

I made this card with a Debbi Moore design

I still really like art deco lady designs, love the fashion in that period, so very elegant

I love the colours in the design, and normally I would stick with purples, but this time decided to be more bold and bring in different colours.

The white backing was embossed with one of my folders, which I often forget to use!

And the feather cutting die, is one I got free, but has become such a useful die since I got it :D

Metalic Roses

I have tried to buy less and use more of my stash these past 2 years, and still finding designs I had forgotten about

This lovely metalic 3D rose design has been in my stash ages
I hadn't used it due to the colours, pink and lilac. I love both these colours, but was not sure how I felt seeing them in a rose design

However, now I have used these roses on a card, I've grown to like the shades, and pleased I went for monochrome backing paper and black to hightlight it the design

As always I like to use cutting dies to make my own embellishments, Ive not combined these dies before and quite like how they work together
